I don't see the difference between the 3 templates - am I supposed to?

Yes. You will only see a difference if you select more than one title. The first template creates separate templates for each widget, the second (TABBED) template creates one widget with different tabs for each tittle, and the third (Mult-title) template creates one widget with multiple titles in a single widget where you can search across all the titles in that widget.
